Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, launched rue de Valois the first edition of Weekend FRAC - "WE FRAC" initiative of the Association of FRAC, Platform, to be held on 5 and 6 November next. Throughout the weekend, the 23 Regional Contemporary Art Funds (FRAC) open their collections to the general public. Moments privileged exchanges with artists, discussions, guided tours, audio tours, digital workshops: Many activities will show the public the action and behind the scenes of FRAC. Teams from the high place of artistic creation will be mobilized to offer everyone a warm welcome. "The creation of FRAC in 1982 was part of a grand gesture of democratization and popularization of culture and contemporary art. Culture everywhere and for all remains the primary mission of the Department of Culture and Communication today "recalled Audrey Azoulay. For over 30 years, the FRAC educate the wider public to contemporary artistic approaches by intense mediation work. Through their actions inside and outside walls - in museums but also in schools, universities, hospitals or prisons - they allow diverse audiences, especially the younger ones, access to contemporary art . Support facilities for artists, learning, experimentation and research, but also for exchanges and discussions, the FRAC is an essential tool to support the creation. The 23 FRAC collections meeting is the third public collection of contemporary art in France with almost 26 000 works signed by more than 5000 artists.
