On November 09, 2016 will be released in FRANCE, 'Hacksaw Ridges', the fifth film directed by the American Director Mel GIBSON. After, 'Braveheart', 'The Passion of the Christ', 'Apocalypto', here he comes back with a Film based on the true story of US Army medic Desmond T. DOSS. He was a Seventh-day Adventist conscientious objector who refused to bear arms, yet was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Harry S. Truman for single-handedly saving the lives of over 75 of his comrades while under constant enemy fire during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II. The film was described as an anti-war film.
Desmond T. DOSS (he died in 2006) became the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor, in recognition of his bravery as a combat medic during the battle of Okinawa. He was a Seventh Day Adventist and refused to carry a gun, but served as a company aid man in 1st Battalion, 307th Infantry in the bloody assault on the island.
Today, Mel GIBSON remains an international superstar mogul, 'Hacksaw Ridge' represents a high-stakes comeback for Mel Gibson who was clearly anxious to avoid any other controversy. Mel GIBSON directed previously : ' The Man Without a Face' (1993), 'Braveheart' (1995), 'The Passion of the Christ' (2004), 'Apocalypto (2006)',.... Today : 'Hackswaw Ridges' (2016).

In several of his films, including 'Braveheart' and 'Apocalypto', Mel Gibson has displayed a particular proficiency in filming combat. Mel Gibson doesn´t soften the horrors : He shows us men whose bodies have been torn in two, their entrails dangling like useless fringe, and rats nibbling at the faces of men who have been dead only a few hours. 'Hacksaw Ridges' wouldn´t be a Mel Gibson movie without some religious imagery and the movie reaches out toward the idea of goodness in the world....
