Rajoy claimed his electoral victories to ask for a new term
First day of plenary investiture
USPA NEWS -
"Spain needs an effective Government and urgently needed," said Conservative candidate and acting President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, before the plenary session of Parliament on Tuesday began debating its possible inauguration for a new term. Rajoy claimed their electoral victories.
"Not only it has been chosen the Popular Party as the preferred option in two stages of voting but is the only one that has grown" electorally, recalled Rajoy shortly after detailing the three reasons that have led him to submit his candidacy for the Presidency of the Spanish Government. These three reasons, he said, are that "Spain urgently needs a Government, that Spaniards have expressed their preference for the Popular Party and that there is no alternative" viable conservative project. "It is urgent that Spain counts as soon as possible with a Government capable of acting" to "end the anomaly of having a caretaker Government" for eight months.
"The alternative I propose is the most convenient and reasonable" for Spain, argued Mariano Rajoy, who came to the debate with 170 votes and the conviction that neither this Wednesday, when required absolute majority of 176 votes to be invested, or Friday, when it will be enough with a simple majority, will be invested president succeed. However, he defended his project because "it is the only real possibility that Spain have a moderate Government, far from adventures" secessionists. "There is no viable alternative that responds to the interests of the Spanish," he said.
Spain "does not serve any Government, not a Government serves for a year or two," said Rajoy. "The task requires more time," the conservative candidate added, and stressed that the Government "must be stable, must inspire confidence." He was convinced that there must be "based on government agreements. It does not seem to be viable a Government that lacks them." And he thanked the support of small regional parties Foro Asturias, Union del Pueblo Navarro and Aragonese, and Citizens party center and canaries nationalists, who support him in the investiture.
The agreement with Citizens Rajoy focused references to his Government program. "The key objective is employment," he said, adding that "we have changed the trend but we canĀ“t change the target". A goal that "depends on maintaining economic growth and consolidate the recovery." Rajoy said that "we have moved from recession to economic growth, the massive destruction of jobs to create half a million jobs each year, paralyzing economic activity to create a new model of development."
Rajoy admitted that "much remains to be done" and said "we would more effectively if we have more support" parliamentarian. In this sense, offered a package of fiscal measures for freelancers, entrepreneurs and businessmen, and proposed a national pact on R & D + i, another on education, a third pact against gender violence and, finally, another for unity from Spain. In addition, he offered to negotiate "a stable model that preserves the equality of all Spaniards in public services" and strengthening the pension system.
"No one can deprive the whole Spanish people of their right to decide their future," said Rajoy regarding the challenge Catalan independence. Underlining that the arguments of the separatists are false, the conservative candidate for President of the Spanish Government recalled that "our first duty is to preserve national sovereignty" and said that "together we are better."
