Powerful earthquake strikes southern Iran, over 30 dead

Over 30 people were confirmed dead after a strong earthquake shook southern Iran, local authorities said Tuesday. The 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck near the Bushehr Nuclear Plant at around 4:20 p.m. local time, aproximately 89 kilometers (55 miles) from Bushehr, Iran with a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).
According to the ISNA news agency, at least 32 people were confirmed dead, although the nuclear plant was not affected. Hundreds of others were also injured, as local authorities said at least 850 suffered wounds from the quake. However, the death toll could continue to rise, as some reports said nearly 40 had lost their lives during the quake.
