INTERSESSIONAL MEETING OF THE NETWORK OF 50 WOMEN APF PARLIAMENTARIANS IN TANGIE

STEERING COMMITTEE “ DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN IN POVERTY AND INHERITANCE“---------------- During the first day of work, the President of the Network, Ms. Lydian Epoubé, convened the Steering Committee of the Network and presented its draft activity report. In addition, Chantal Guittet (MP, France), presented a draft report on "discrimination against women with regard to the transmission of property and inheritance" and Gina Martow (MP, Ontario) presented a project adult female literacy. On draft new reports, the Network decided entrusted the first to Sylvie Boucher (MP, Canada) on education to develop tracks to eliminate violence against women and girls and the second in Saida Chaker ( MP, Morocco), on gender mainstreaming in climate discussions. Maryse Gaudreault (MP, Quebec), First Vice President of the Network, then introduced the monitoring of international commitments on gender equality and women's rights. Finally, Ndioro Ndiaye, Coordinator of the Francophone Network for equality man-woman (RFEFH), presented the actions of the latter, with particular emphasis on a collection of texts and laws on equality man-woman within the francophone world, which greatly interested parliamentarians.

2015´ NEW FRAMEWORK ADOPTED BY UNPD REGARDING GENDER MAN-WOMAN------------------------------------ Parliamentarians spent the second day of work at the new development framework adopted on 25 September 2015 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. Parliamentarians have a key role to play in the implementation of these new development goals, the Women's Network has decided to take stock of this new framework by targeting two specific themes dedicated to equality man-woman namely economic empowerment and that, jointly, the issue of unpaid domestic work.-------------------------------------------In this context, Ayshanie Labe, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Morocco, presented the new goals of the UN and their connection with the rights of women. In addition, Cristina Robalo Cordeiro, Director of the Office of the Maghreb Agence universitaire de la Francophonie, Christiane Robichon, president of BPW (Business and Professional Women) and Nicolas Gravel, associate director of Oxfam in Morocco, each presented examples programs implemented by the respective organizations to promote the economic empowerment of women. To finish the work, the more specific issue of unpaid domestic work was addressed by Sarah Mantah, Gender member in action, which introduced the concept of unpaid domestic work and analyzed the effects of this work on women's rights and solutions to address them. The next meeting of the Network will take place in Antananarivo, Madagascar, July 2016.
