Spanish Police received this month more than 800 complaints about jihadists

During this meeting, Jorge Fernandez Diaz revealed that in January, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior has received more than 800 submissions on possible cases of radicalization in Spain. The minister explained that 50% of the information received at the Center for Intelligence against Organized Crime and Terrorism (CITCO) containing data considered of interest and police treatment. "Specifically, of the 833 submissions received, 415 were police treatment and interest were accounted for," said Jorge Fernandez Diaz.
The minister added that about 44% of the information has been received through the website www.stop-radicalismos.es; 40% through a free phone and almost 7% Alertcops via, the free mobile application for public safety alerts. Also, on the website there is an e-mail available to citizens (stop-radicalismos@interior.es), through which received 9.5% of communications. In addition, Fernandez Diaz recalled that the campaign 'Stop radicalism' has also been active in social networks, specifically via Twitter, with the aim of countering the propaganda apparatus DAESH.
Jorge Fernandez Diaz said that the largest number of communications coming from the Community of Madrid with 19%, followed by Catalonia with 17% and Andalusia with 16%. "Specifically, these communications occur in the provinces of Madrid with 19% and Barcelona with 14%. These three regions account for over 50% of Spain and the areas are more likely to conduct projects or information about radicalism," said the Minister of Interior, who also highlighted the fact that coastal regions have a higher incidence than the interior. Finally, the minister emphasized the importance of communications concerning social networks and personal profiles, exceeding even the information received in the Community of Madrid.
New European Counterterrorism Center
