African Ministers of Energy to Attend the Powering Africa Summit 2016

USPA NEWS - Austin-Texas, 13 January 2016 - EnergyNet to host the 2nd Powering Africa Summit (PAS) at the Marriott Marquis, Washington, D.C. from 27-29th January 2016. African Development Bank President and World Bank President will give the opening statements at the summit.

The summit will make in-depth analyses of the US Government´s Africa investment strategy into the energy sector and align these goals to the current opportunities for investment. EnergyNet focused solely on Africa´s power sector and frontier market power generation for over 20 years, and they have had the privilege to witness the passion and long-term commitment it takes to “˜turn the lights on in Africa.´

Today there is more enthusiasm and more “˜expectation´ about the potential of Africa´s electricity market, and from 27-29 January 2016, the second annual summit will return to Washington D.C and will focus on the private sector both in USA and Africa on what lessons can be learn from the efficiency with which the sector concludes investment agreements. The meeting will enable dialogue between key stakeholders and developers, chiefly heads of African utilities, US-based private equity houses and wealth management establishments in an attempt to demonstrate the power of strategic partnerships in collectively achieving the goal of bringing power to Africa.

Tesla, General Electric and Caterpillar are among the world leading US companies that will join heads of Africa´s leading Utilities, Ministers of Energy and Finance, and senior government official at the summit. Some Industry leaders from the USA and Africa who have confirmed to attend include Andy Herscowitz, Coordinator, Power Africa and Trade Africa, Anita Marangoly George, Senior Director, Energy and Extractives, The World Bank Group and Karen Breytenbach, Head of IPP Office, Department of Energy, South Africa.
