Catalan anti-capitalist reaffirms its rejection of the nomination of Artur Mas
Admit the possibility of new elections

Catalan anti-capitalist coalition CUP, whose ten members need the nationalists of Junts pel Si to form Government in this Spanish region has again rejected Artur Mas as a candidate for president of Catalonia.
After last week Junts pel Si proposed a collegial Government with a visible head that embody Artur Mas and three areas occupied by leaders with presidential category, the CUP submitted this weekend the proposal as determined by their bases. And over 70% of members of the anti-capitalist formation rejected the proposed agreement of Junts pel Si and the Artur Mas reelection as president of Catalonia. For the CUP, Artur Mas is a drag because it represents the Catalan Government welfare cuts and his party - Democratic Convergence of Catalonia - the corruption.
After this resounding rejection the CUP leaders accused Junts pel Si not move in the direction that calls for anti-capitalist formation. The CUP want a Government to conduct a quick and complete break with Spain, the adoption of supportive policies to end poverty in Catalonia and Artur Mas withdrawal of the political forefront. However, the presidency of Mas is not negotiable for Junts pel Si, so that the positions and remain at loggerheads since none of the parties ruled out the call for a new regional elections next March.
For the secretary general of the Catalan Socialists, Miguel Iceta, the rejection of the proposal of Junts pel Si drive to "ridicule and discredit" the president of the regional Government of Catalonia and, in any case, does that "possibility of an election in March, opening the way to go." Iceta regretted that the president of the regional Government of Catalonia in question "like a raffle or draw."
