The President of the Republic welcomed the unanimous adoption by the United Nations Security Council in New York of the 2249 resolution proposed by France. This resolution he had been called for before Congress in Versailles will contribute to the mobilisation of nations to eliminate Daech. The Council is composed of 15 Members with five permanent members ; France, China, Russian Federation, The uNited Kingdom and The United States.------------------------------------------------------ SECURITY COUNCIL CALLED FOR ERADICATING ISIL SAFE HAVENS IN SYRIA AND IRAQ--------------------------- 20 November 2015 The United Nations Security Council this evening called on all countries that can do so to take the war on terrorism to Islamic State-controlled territory in Syria and Iraq and destroy its safe haven, warning that the group intends to mount further terror attacks like those that devastated Paris and Beirut last week.------------------------------------------------------ Amid today´s complex conflicts, Ban outlines role for Security Council in strengthening peace operations.
