The regional Parliament in Catalonia will vote for independence next Monday

USPA NEWS - The president of the regional Parliament of Catalonia, Carmen Forcadell, convened Friday to next Monday a sitting in which the independence motion will be discussed and the candidacy of Artur Mas will vote for a new term.

After meeting with the spokesmen of all the Catalan parliamentary groups, the president of the regional Parliament, Carmen Forcadell, proposed on Friday the current acting president of the Catalan Government, Artur Mas, as candidate for reelection. Previously, the full House will debate Monday the independence motion by the nationalist formation Junts pel Si and anti CUP party. But, almost certainly, Artur Mas will not chosen. The 62 deputies Junts pel Si not reach an absolute majority of 68 seats needed to form a Government.

To that end, nationalists need the 10 deputies of the CUP, but this training has repeatedly said it will not support the nomination of Artur Mas. So far, no agreement on that point. And the Cup is not the only one still rejects the Catalan president. All opposition bloc will vote "no" to the investiture of Mas, which also has not secured the election the next day, when a simple majority would suffice. In that scenario, only the abstention of the CUP would form a Government by Artur Mas.

Junts pel Si and CUP presented Friday in the regional Parliament of Catalonia an added text to their motion on independence, in seeking to shield "fundamental rights" such as the fight against energy poverty. This text and the separatist motion, if approved, will be challenged by the Spanish Government, which will meet urgently on Tuesday. "The Government will not take a minute sovereignty response to challenge," announced in Madrid the Spanish Deputy Prime Minister, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria. "At the minute the vote is over, the Government is going to implement all the legal machinery to prevent the motion is applied," she added.

When the resource present by Spanish Government in the Constitutional Court its appeal against the decision of the Catalan Parliament, the resolution will be automatically suspended. Saenz de Santamaria recalled that the Government knows who they have to blame for it and pointed to the president of the regional Parliament of Catalonia, Carmen Forcadell, as the first responsible for the acts of the Chamber. Monday is holiday in Madrid, but the Spanish Government asked that same day to the State Council a report on what is happening in Catalonia.
