The Catalan Parliament is on the road to independence

It will vote on a proposal for secession

USPA NEWS - Less than 24 hours after its formal constitution, which took place on Monday 26 October, the new regional Parliament of Catalonia emerged from the elections of September 27 took the road to independence with the registration of an initiative on secession.
The proposal was presented by two representatives of the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC its acronym in Spanish) and two other representatives of the CUP, formations that drive the Catalan independence process. In his second point, "solemnly declares the beginning of creation of the independent Catalan state as a republic" and makes it protected by "democratic mandate won in the elections of September 27, 2015, based on a majority of seats parliamentary forces with the aim that Catalonia will become an independent state and sovereignty in a wide majority in votes and seats that focuses on the opening of a constitutional process unsubordinated."
The two separatist formations considered "relevant start within a maximum period of 30 days the drafting of bills the constitutional process, Social Security and Public Finance". Similarly, the draft resolution notes that "the process of democratic disconnection not be subject to the decisions of the Spanish State, in particular the Constitutional Court, which considers discredited without competition" for its rejection of the Catalan Statute, among other reasons.
The resolution urges the future regional Government of Catalonia to obey only the laws emanating from the Catalan Parliament "to shield the fundamental rights that may be affected by decisions of the institutions of the Spanish State". And declares its willingness to start negotiations leading to independence, "which informs the Spanish State, European Union and the entire international community."
The Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, said Monday night during an interview with Spanish public television (TVE) that the Government has prepared all the necessary mechanisms to deal with a unilateral declaration of independence of Catalonia, but expressed his desire of failing to use them. On Tuesday, Justice Minister Rafael Catala, announced that the Spanish Government will use any decision of the Government or the Parliament of Catalonia in violation of existing laws, especially the Constitution. Among the measures to be taken is the implementation of Article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, which provides for the suspension of the autonomy and the recovery of territorial control by the State.
