The Nobel Peace Prize that has just been handed over to the Tunisian Quartet, dedicated the success of the democratic transition in Tunisia. It is also an encouragement for further support to Tunisia in the trials through which it passes, because it has not finished, yet. We saw this with the terrorist acts of recent weeks and recent months.-----------------------------------------
Through this award, all the "Arab springs" are well reminded, and the Arab Spring of Tunisia was - admittedly - the only one which has had this result with incontestable elections and finally established democracy.--------------------------------------------
France must also draw all the lessons and to have a cooperation with Tunisia which must to be required height: economic, for tourism and also on the defense plan. There are some days, an agreement was signed with Tunisia to support the Tunisian defense forces. Europe and the world must also not simply present an award to Tunisia, but the price to bring aid to be granted to Tunisia. THE PRESIDENT HOLLANDE CONGRATULATES THE TUNISIAN QUARTET THAT HE KNEW BEFORE TO BE ELECTED PRESIDENT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will be the position of France and I am pleased today to all Tunisians, because these people, these organisations, which are in the Quartet, I had them and encountered before, and after becoming President. I know what it means and I want to greet all the militants, activists - because many women have committed themselves - who now get a real recognition of what has been done in Tunisia. While other Arab countries are having trials, because there are wars and conflicts to bring down dictatorships, Tunisia is a good example that can be given, including against terrorism. The Nobel Prize was awarded to Tunisia, it is also a fight against terrorism which must be once again reaffirmed.
