FRANCE AND THE NETHERLANDS HAVE ACQUIRED JOINTLY A PAIR OF REMBRANDT PAINTINGS

USPA NEWS - French Minister of Culture, Fleur Pellerin and Jet Bussemaker, Dutch Minister of Culture are pleased to announce that France and the Netherlands will conclude the joint acquisition of the pair of paintings by Rembrandt , Marten Portrait of Soolmans and portrait Oopjen Coppit, wife of Marten Soolmans

Fleur Pellerin and Jet Bussemaker worked together for several months to get that agreement, pursuant to which the tables are always presented together, alternating the Louvre and the Rijksmuseum. The owners have indicated their agreement to this joint sale. The two ministers warmly thank them. French Minister Fleur Pellerin and Jet Bussemaker welcome this new solution, which meets the common cultural and political objective is that they were set: keep two canvases on European soil and present them to the greatest number, in two of the beautiful and great museums of the world. The proposal, which was submitted to the owners, is an extension of the mail that Fleur Pellerin, Minister of Culture and Communication, and Ms Jet Bussemaker, his Dutch counterpart, signed July 14, 2015 to the attention owners of the two portraits.
