Designer Rebecca Paterson is established both nationally and international and her reputation for uniqueness, innovation and experimental design work makes Paterson one of the most respected designers in emerging from Australia.
Rebecca´s “˜Artwork Fashion´ has been collected by leading museums; including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
33 Poets is known for working with experimental fabric silhouettes and using fashion to comment on popular culture. 33 Poets showed at the 2015 TPFF Opening Night presented by Dilettante this evening in Perth Australia. Rebecca is refered to as both innovative and experimental. Australian fashion designer Rebecca Paterson, is known for her counterculture Punk/post-punk influences . Her design work plays with text and interacts with experimental textiles. She has worked with the renowned Japanese textile engineer Junichi Arai, and initiated bringing him to Australia. Mr Arai has worked with many of the great Japanese designers including Issey Miyake and Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garcons. Some pieces from this show were exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne in “˜CULTURE 2004´ and Albert Museum in London, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
Edgar Allan Poe once said, "I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of Beauty."
If this is true then what I saw on tonight´s runway is poetry as defined by Poe. Are we not surprised that Paterson has already featured in Australian Vogue Magazine! Whatever the future holds for this brilliant designer I´m sure we will one day see her fabrics and designs grace the runway of Paris Fashion Week alongside global Fashion Icons such as Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier . ...
