At the Press Conference given at the Senate in Paris on September 3, 2015, by French Speaker of the French Senate Gerard Larcher, were submitted to the journalists the main issues the Senate will be tackling during the session 2015-2016. He also mentionned the four days trip to Algeria.

The Senate :
The French Parliament is made up of two chambers, the National Assembly and the Senate. Members of the two Houses are chosen by two different electoral systems. This is supposed to ensure that all the diverse components of French society are represented as fairly as possible. Examination of bills by both Houses of Parliament should help for better laws.
The Speaker of the Senate, Mister Gerard Larcher, ensures the stability of France´s institutions as he is called upon to replace the President of the Republic in the event of his death or resignation.

Regarding the four days trip to Algeria, it was said coming from the invitation of Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah. The visit of Larcher is accompanied by a large delegation of the French Senate, part of the parliamentary cooperation between Algeria and France. Gerard Larcher is also meeting with senior officials of the Parliament and the Government. One of issues to be discussed is about "the only country reaching democracy" Tunisia. Gerard Larcher said seeking help from Algeria in that matter as he has special feelings toward Tunisia.
