He denies illegal financing of his party

The president of the regional Government of Catalonia, Artur Mas, denied on Wednesday the illegal financing of his party, the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC in its acronym in Spanish), and accused the Government of Spain to maneuver against him in the elections of September 27.
For Mas, who appeared at the Parliament of Catalonia to explain the reasons that led him to advance the regional elections and the alleged illegal financing of his party, denied the allegations and accused his time to the Government of Spain to use the Civil Guard to CDC harm in a move intended to disable sovereignism in Catalonia. The Civil Guard raided the CDC headquarters last week to investigate the alleged payment of fees for the granting of various works in municipalities governed by that party. According to officials, they found documents that prove the payment of commissions in the amount of 3% of the value of the works, which would have served to finance CDC found.
In his appearance, Artur Mas denied the irregular financing of CDC and highlighted the fact it has been the Civil Guard which has carried out the records and that the police force under the Ministry of Interior, "which bypasses be a ministry characterized by exemplary performance and best practices," he said. Added that he does not believe "in coincidences" and attributed the records to a maneuver state powers to damage the image of CDC in the regional elections on September 27.
