Spain increased controls implemented in September passenger trains
In accordance with the EU decision
USPA NEWS -
The Spanish Government approved on September 10 a Comprehensive National Railway Safety Plan that include tighter controls on train passengers and their baggage, in order to prevent terrorist actions.
The plan is in line with the agreement reached this weekend by the ministers of Interior and Transport of nine European countries, after the attempted bombing of a French high-speed train that covered the line between Brussels and Paris. The ministers agreed to strengthen controls on passengers' identity of long-distance trains and their luggage, and expand joint patrols of policemen from different countries rail transport. However, the German Minister Thomas de Maizière, admitted that "it is impossible to have complete control of people and baggage million passengers traveling each day in Germany and Europe."
