FAMOUS EGYPTIAN ACTOR NOOR EL-SHERIF DIED IN CAIRO AGE 69

El-SHERIF's big break was in the late 1960s when he played a supporting role in "The Palace of Desire", the screen adaptation of one of the novels in a trilogy by Egyptian Nobel Prize laureate Naguib MAHFOUZ. He went on to become one of the Arab world's top male actors for much of the 1970s and 1980s. He never left the circle of fame even in his last days. He was told to be a cultivated man who loved reading books. He only spoke about his failing health in 2014, during an interview with the Cairo-based channel CBC. He was among the most agreeable actors to work with, according to friends and colleagues. He went to United States and Germany for treatment before returning to Cairo.
He was one of Egypt's most prominent actors, with an impressive list of Cinema, Television an Theater production. He contributed in two hundred films, seventeen plays and more than twenty Television series. His career spans across four decades. He was a favorite of Egyptian Director Youcef SHAHINE playing major roles in his films.
