THALES SIGNS CONTRACT OF 1BILLION € TO UPGRADE 4 LINES TO LONDON UNDERGROUND

USPA NEWS - The French group THALES, won a contract of 760 million pounds, or 1 billion euros, with Transport for London. It is worthing a project of renovation of 4 historic lines (Circle, District, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City), of London Undergound which transports 1.3 billion passengers per year.

TEH CONTRACT CONCERNS MODERNISATION BY THALES OF ONE OF THE OLDEST TUBE WITH HISTORICAL LINES BACK TO 1863------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The huge contract concerns "the train control and signalling system," explains the French group Thales in a press release. As part of the modernisation of the Tube, the London Underground is renovating four of its historic lines which represent 40% of the British capital network. Some sections of these lines date back to 1863, to the creation of the metro.Once these four lines modernised, London Underground attacks Piccadilly lines, Central, Bakerloo and Waterloo & City, in particular by introducing new trains and new control systems. This is not the first contract won in London by Thales Transportation Section. The French Group has modernised the Jubilee and Northern lines, whose frequencies were also increased. The contract concerns "the train control and signalling system," explains the French group Thales in a press release.

THE RENOVATION PROJECT LONDON UNDERGROUND REQUIRES 10 YEARS OF WORK AND CREATE 1 000 JOBS --------------------------------------------------------------According to Thales, the renovation project includes a refreshing of the oldest lines, but also the refurbished of the signalling and control systems to increase the frequency of trains.
