2 patients with suspected MERS virus admitted to UK hospital
USPA News -
Two patients have been hospitalized at a hospital in northwest England with suspected cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), officials say. A statement from Central Manchester University Hospitals said both patients have been isolated at Manchester Royal Infirmary for on-going clinical treatment and management of their condition.
It was not immediately clear whether they had recently traveled abroad, or how long it would take for tests to confirm or exclude the possibility of MERS. "We would like to reassure our patients and the general public that there is no significant risk to public health," the hospital said in the statement. "Manchester Royal Infirmary Accident and Emergency Department will be closed until further notice while further investigations take place."
