LABOR DAY EVENTS IN ITALY HONOR NEPAL AND MEDITERRANEAN VICTIMS

TRADITIONAL CONCERT HELD IN ROME

USPA NEWS - The traditional Labor Day concert in Rome's central Piazza San Giovanni on Friday started with a minute of silence to commemorate victims of an earthquake in Nepal and shipwrecks in the Mediterranean.
Television host Camila Raznovich, the host of the May Day event, called for a minute of silence "for the two emergencies of the moment - the populations of Nepal hit by the earthquake and the victims in the Mediterranean". The April 25 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Nepal is feared to have killed as many as 10,000 people, with four Italians confirmed dead.
As well, some 800 migrants were confirmed dead in a shipwreck in the Mediterranean on April 20 in the latest tragedy in Europe's migration crisis.
The Labor Day concert, now in its 25th edition, is taking place in front of Saint John's Basilica and is dedicated to integration and solidarity.
