Spanish Government will create offices of asylum against Human Trafficking

An intolerable infringement of rights

USPA NEWS - Spanish Government will create offices of asylum and attention to persons in the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, in the African North coast. This was announced by Minister of Interior, Jorge Fernandez Diaz, during the presentationof the second phase of the National Police Plan against Human Traffic.
"Trafficking victims for Sexual Exploitation suffer an intolerable infringement of rights incompatible with our democratic system of values and freedoms," said the minister during his speech. Trafficking in human beings for sexual exploitation is a "dehumanizing activity" whose eradication "is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Interior", he added. Fernandez Diaz recalled that, according to the United Nations, "human trafficking worldwide moves 25,000 million euros per year, of which 2,280 million in Europe. A criminal activity that generates 5 million euros a day in Spain. in addition, it is estimated that there are over 12 million trafficking victims in the world".
The National Police Plan against Trafficking in Human Beings for Sexual Exploitation was approved in April 2013 and creating a reference unit in this area, the Central Brigade Combat Trafficking in Human Beings, attached to the General Commissariat Immigration and Border. The Plan includes a comprehensive set of actions of various kinds, from preventive actions to welfare measures, through structural measures and monitoring and operational measures.
Interior Minister presented the results of this plan, calling it "spectacular". During the first phase "have made 462 operations have resulted in 1,450 arrested and 11 751 potential victims identified", said Fernandez Diaz. Also, "have remained 3,379 contacts with NGOs and institutions that have received 774 victims, there have been 963 joint actions with the Labour Inspectorate in the field of sexual exploitation, and have involved 29 million euros result of economic research carried out". Finally, Interior Minister stressed the importance of civic solidarity, the result of which could release 44 victims of trafficking and arrest 56 people.
Fernandez Diaz also highlighted the work of the Civil Guard in the fight against human trafficking. In this sense, Interior Minister stressed that "in the period 2012-2014, the units of the Civil Guard have developed 217 operations, arresting 534 people and freeing more than 1,200 victims. "Moreover, from the point of view of prevention, "have made 3,754 inspections in places where prostitution is practiced, identifying 32,687 persons at risk".
This second phase aims, firstly, enhance the continuing and increasing cooperation with the countries of origin, transit and destination for victims of trafficking; close collaboration with agencies, governmental institutions and NGOs to combat trafficking, and also with the educational world, especially with the University. Second, the National Police encourage and work with projects in the international framework of Europol, Interpol, Sirene, and the Iberoamerican Network of Immigration Authorities.
