From go-karts to F1. Then the tragic accident during a race in the CART Series in 2001 that took both his legs away. Life has taught Alex Zanardi to try rather than to win. "I've never thought I was unlucky. I always think about what I can achieve with what I have left."
"I never think about what happened that day during the race and what it took from me but I look all around me everyday I think that each given day is a blessing."
During an interview on a European sports channel Alex confesses, "I've never felt anger towards life, I am always too busy setting new goals and planning to conquer them! I've alway had the fortune to live many expierences and each time I raise the bar a little higher and I push myself in order to reach the next goal."
Alex Zanardi, also Paralympic Gold Medalist in London continues, " I didn't hop on a bike just to go to London and race to win the Olympic Games, I wanted to ride a bike!"

"People are always complimenting me but the most touching words came from the mouth of my five year old nephew when he told his father that he wished for two things in life. One was to race for Ferrari and second, not to have uncle Alexs' legs! Simply heart-warming. After the accident I changed my way of living. I thought my life wasn't dramatic but exceptional, different."
Alex Zanardi recently partecipated in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii where he completed the 2,4 mile swim, the 115 mile long bike race and the final run(hand-bike for him) in under ten hours.
He has become a role-model for his many accomplishments. A very modest person that young people should look up to. Perfect example of perseverance.
