USPA NEWS -
With a perfect lap around the Zolder track, Laurens Vanthoor took pole position for the Qualifying Race for the Belgian round of the 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series. The Belgian in the #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi will share the front row of the grid with Jeroen Bleekemolen in the #28 Lamborghini
Jeroen Bleekemolen admitted that he was not able to match Vanthoor´s time. “Maybe it is because Laurens knows this track inside out“, the Dutchman grinned. “We still have a good starting position, so this is a good opportunity to score big points. Since our rivals in the title fight are in 12th, this could be a good opportunity to close the gap in the points standings.“
The second row of the grid will be shared by the #2 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi of René Rast and the #95 NSC Motorsports/Syntix Lamborghini of Series´ newcomer Nicky Catsburg. Pole in Silver Cup went to the #34 ROAL Motorsport BMW of David Fumanelli, who just pipped their title rivals in the #4 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi.

Laurens Vanthoor, who literally lives minutes away from the Circuit of Zolder, was the quickest of the Blancpain Sprint Series drivers today (Oct. 18). The Belgian lapped his home track in 1´29.752 during the final minutes of the second free practice, putting his #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi on top of the rankings. Only one other driver managed to break the 1´30 barrier, Nick Catsburg in the #95 NSC Motorsports Lamborghini. Another Series´ newcomer, Andy Soucek in the #107 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin, set the 3rd time.
