Small plane crash near Denver kills 5

USPA News - A small plane carrying five people crashed north of Denver in the U.S. state of Colorado on Sunday, killing everyone on board, local authorities said Monday. A dog was also killed in the crash.
The accident happened just before noon local time when emergency services responded to a plane crash in a field near Erie Municipal Airport, located near Erie, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Denver. Five people and a dog were on board the single-engine Piper PA-46 aircraft. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said there were no survivors. Names of the victims were being withheld pending notification of next of kin and identification by the Weld County Coroner`s Office, a news release forwarded by Erie Police Department Commander Lee Mathis said. "It is likely that the plane will remain at its current location to assist with the investigation. As such, portions of Coal Creek Trail will remain closed until further notice," the news release added. Both the NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will investigate the cause of Sunday`s accident.
