USPA NEWS - The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, will deliver a remark under the Cupola of the French Institute, « Institut de France » on the occasion of the bicentenary of the death of Napoleon Bonaparte, on May 5. The Institut de France is a public institution founded in 1795 by the First Republic. In addition to the Institute's missions, in 2021 was the responsibility for national commemorations, for which the "France Mémoire" service was created. At the opening of the meeting, the Chancellor of the Institut de France, Xavier Darcos, will specify in what spirit France Mémoire assumes its mission within the Institute. Then the historian and academician Jean Tulard will take stock of recent research on the Napoleonic era. FRANCE MEMOIRE IS A SERVICE OF INSTITUT DE FRANCE DEDICATED TO NATIONAL COMMEMORATIONS- France Mémoire is a service of the Institut de France. It succeeded the former delegation to National Commemorations. It is independent from the state. To accomplish this national mission, France Mémoire benefits from the skills of the members of the five academies that make up the Institute and cover all knowledge and the arts.
