CONSTRUCTION OF AN EXTRAORDINARY COURTROOM FOR EXTRAORDINARY TRIALS

USPA NEWS - Since January 2020, the construction of the Grand Trial courtroom has started in the heart of the historic courthouse in Paris, on the ÃŽle de la Cité. Led by the public agency for real estate justice (APIJ), this project with the challenges of high security and optimal reception, mobilizes many actors of the Ministry of Justice in connection with the Ministry of the Interior and the prefecture of Paris. In September 2021, this courtroom with more than 500 seats will be ready to host the trial of the attacks of November 13, 2015. "Justice must attend these extraordinary trials so that they take place under the best possible conditions for all parties. The ministry´s investment is totally up to this challenge, “said Eric Dupond-Moretti, the French Minister of Justice.

CONSTRUCTION THE GRAND TRIAL COURTROOM IS A 13-MONTH PROJECT--------------------------------------------- Construction of the Grand Trial courtroom with more than 500 seats began in January 2020, in the Salle des Pas Perdus of the ÃŽle de la Cite courthouse, listed as a Historic Monument. This sitting room, designed with respect for heritage, nevertheless complies with the functional requirements of holding extraordinary hearings; both in terms of safety but also of user comfort. Provisional, it will allow trials to be held until 2023.The site includes a system set up for the optimal reception of a massive flow of civil parties, defendants, lawyers and journalists. In addition to the main room, it includes rooms for the retransmission of debates in the Palace, a control room, a web radio available to civil parties, dedicated access for the latter and lawyers, a support system for victims, spaces entirely dedicated to the press as well as a retransmission room. The hearing of the attacks of November 13, 2015 held in the heart of Paris The trial of the attacks of November 13, 2015 is due to begin in September 2021. It concerns 20 defendants and 1,765 civil parties assisted by nearly 300 lawyers. The exceptional number of civil parties and substantive documents (469 volumes, 45,000 minutes) contributes to making it an extraordinary trial.
