Thousands gathered along the parade route near the famed Coney Island amusement park to catch a glimpse of the vibrant and colorful costumes adorned by the beautiful participants of the annual 2018 Coney Island Mermaid Parade. We were welcomed with plenty of smiles, glitter, and lovely painted parade marchers in some of the most creative costumes.
Coverage of this year's mermaid parade photo gallery is presented by NYC Urban Art By Nuri Photography. In these galleries you will find some of the most vibrant images captured of this year's parade.
The Mermaid Parade, by tradition, is by far one of the most unique parades you will ever see. The parade and celebration activities exemplifies the spirit and essence surrounding the diverse neighborhoods of Brooklyn's Coney Island. The goal for covering this year's mermaid parade was to focus our attention on the artistry of the make-up, glitter, and accessories adorned by the parade marchers. Overall the parade was a beautiful experience and a true testament to the parade organizers commitment to true artistic expression and free spirit.
The laid back and easy going nature of the participants and parade goers made this event well worth negotiating the packed crowds and traffic jams. The heat and sunny conditions also proved to be somewhat challenging for both those working as well as those attending the event.. However, given the fact that this event is a long standing Coney Island tradition, it will definitely be one to put on the calendar for next year.
