Basque Nationalist Party grave to Rajoy
Socialist Pedro Sanchez new President
USPA NEWS -
Spain will have this Friday a new Prime Minister replacing Mariano Rajoy. Sources of the conservative Popular Party, which holds the Government of Rajoy, confirmed to journalists in the Lower House of the Spanish Parliament, the Congress of Deputies, that the five Basque nationalist deputies support the motion of censure against Rajoy presented by the Socialist Party.
The decision on the Government of Spain was made by the five Basque nationalist deputies. The block against the continuity of Rajoy, formed by the Socialist Party, the Catalan pro-independence, the extreme left of Podemos and the Canarian nationalists, added 175 votes, one less than the absolute majority needed to change the Government, while Rajoy only counted with 170 votes from its own party, the centrist Citizens and three minority parties from the regions of Asturias, Navarra and the Canary Islands. The only possibility of changing the Government and that the leader of the Socialist Party, Pedro Sanchez, is the new Prime Minister, was that the five Basque nationalist deputies supported the motion of censure against Rajoy. And that is what they announced shortly before the start of the afternoon session in Parliament. By 180 votes against 170, the socialist Pedro Sanchez will be this Friday the new Spanish Prime Minister.
The so far Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, said after the debate that “Mr. Sanchez is not in a position to form a stable Government, he does not have a country idea, it has no answers to the challenges that Spain faces and should not aspire to be president of the Government because it has never won elections.“
Rajoy added that “the sentence is an excuse that serves to hide his true intentions: to reach the Presidency of the Government without going through the polls because he knows that the Spaniards will not endorse him. He wants to arrive as he is and with whoever. Their program is worth what their supports require, it is a pyrotechnic exercise in order to achieve their goal, even above the general interest.“
“Now he tells us that he will govern this year with General Budget of State 2018, which he voted against so enthusiastically. It is NOT NO, he said. In order to achieve this, Mr. Sanchez is even capable of governing with the budgets of the Popular Party. Can anyone take it seriously? What can Mr. Sanchez offer better than a country that grows, creates employment and has approved the Budgets? So many are the urgencies of Mr. Sánchez to subject Spain to this blunder?,“ asked Mr. Rajoy.
The actually Prime Ministet added: “They have interpreted a sentence with partisan interest, which is not firm, in an interested and manipulante manner. No member of the Government or any current member of my party has been condemned. They lie in the Congress of Deputies. Do they have some corrupt condemned in their ranks? When the sentence of the record of employment regulation arrives, will they move a censure motion? That they do not take the hair to the Spaniards.“
