Roadside bomb kills 4 girls in southwestern Afghanistan

At least four girls were killed after a roadside bomb detonated in southwestern Afghanistan, local authorities said Friday. The improvised explosive device (IED) planted in the city of Lashkargah in Helmand Province and detonated as a group of girls were trying to cross a river on Thursday.
According to provincial governor spokesperson, Omar Zwak, two of the girls` bodies were found while two others were missing, Khaama Press reported. No group or terrorist organization claimed responsibility of the incident. Also in Lashkargah, a female police officer and her son in law were killed during a separate roadside bomb in the city`s Surab District. Authorities usually blame Taliban militants for such attacks, as they commonly use roadside bombs and similar tactics targeting afghan and coalition security forces, although civilians are commonly killed.
