USPA NEWS -
France welcomes the unanimous adoption, on 5 September at the request of the Bamako authorities, of Security Council resolution 2374, which creates a sanctions regime for Mali.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This resolution allows for the freezing of assets and forbidding the travel of individuals who are hindering the implementation of the peace and reconciliation agreement. It will sanction those who break the ceasefire or deliberately act against the peace process, but also those who support them through the proceeds of trafficking, especially of drugs and people. In particular, it targets those who prepare, support and carry out attacks against local institutions or international forces, oppose the delivery of humanitarian aid, violate human rights and recruit child soldiers.

This sanctions regime is an additional tool for progress in the implementation of the agreement for peace and reconciliation in Mali. It puts the actors of the peace process before their responsibilities. France noted the communiqué of the Malian government yesterday hailing "the active role of France in the adoption of the resolution."-----------------------------------------
France condemns the attack on a convoy of the Integrated Multidimensional Mission for Stabilization in Mali (MINUSMA) about fifteen kilometers from Aguelhok, where two blue helmets died and two others were seriously wounded.
We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.-------------------------------
Those responsible for the attack will have to be held accountable. Security Council resolution 2374 creates a sanctions regime that allows action against those who have prepared, ordered, financed and committed it.---------------------------------------------
