These murderous hurricanes of a rare intensity have devastated the Antilles, the French islands of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin are ravaged. The Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Florida and other countries are under threat.
The damage is considerable: houses destroyed, roofs torn up, cars turned upside down, trees uprooted, municipal buildings out of use, etc. With its local partners, Le Secours Populaire is able to act to support the victims of this disaster. The association unlocks a first emergency fund of € 100,000.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, basic needs (food distributions, hygiene products, plastic sheeting, water purification, etc.) have to be met, knowing that they will last for months . It will then be necessary to accompany the populations in the long term, in the fields of health, education, etc. Le Secours populaire calls for donations by SMS: send DON5 or DON10 to 9 22 22 to pay 5 or 10 €
SECOURS POPULAIRE IS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND MOST LEGITIMATE FRENCH NON PROFIT ASSOCIATION FOR SOLIDARITY-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Born in 1945, Secours populaire is a non-profit making association declared to be a great National cause. It is authorised to receive gifts, legacies and donations. The aim of the association is to fight against poverty and exclusion in France and throughout the World. It brings together people of all views, circumstances and origins who wish to live in solidarity.
In France, the SPF is particularly concerned with problems of exclusion: in the short term, through emergency aid based on food, and clothing. Emergency housing and referral to a support structure also remain at the heart of the concerns of Secours populaire. The SPF also supports individuals and families over the long term in their rights and lives: access to housing, health, holidays, culture and leisure, sport and professional integration. Whether an emergency or not, the respect and dignity of persons assisted is vital for the association.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Across all continent, whether in responding to emergency or development projects, Secours populaire is working closely with local associations capable of identifying the needs of people. In the long term, these local partners manage projects by respecting the cultural practices of the local people.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Secours populaire is the partner of numerous association networks. It is also represented in several public consultations processes, both French and international. SEE www.secourspopulaire.fr
