Half million of people march against terrorism in Barcelona

USPA NEWS - Barcelona turned on Saturday in a large demonstration against terrorism, ten days after the jihadist attacks that killed 15 people and injured more than 100 people. For the first time, the King of Spain, Philip VI, participated in the demonstration.

The head of the demonstration was occupied by 75 members of the Police, firefighters, health services, Civil Protection and neighborhood associations, who attended the victims of the attacks. They carried a large banner in which, in Catalan, it could be read: “I am not afraid“. In the second row were the authorities, headed by King Philip VI, with the Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy; The presidents of the Congress and the Senate; The president of the regional government of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, among other senior officials. And behind it, tens of thousands of citizens, including some from countries with victims, such as the United States, Canada, Belgium, France and Australia, who appealed to the conveners to demonstrate unity and firmness against terrorism. Of the more than 100 injured who caused the attacks, 26 remain hospitalized, six of them in critical condition. The attacks, the most serious of jihadism since March 11, 2004, shocked all of Spain. The attacks followed the wake of other previous in Europe, the indiscriminate peddling of pedestrians, but presented some differences with respect to those.
