USPA News -
A Philadelphia man was charged with attempted murder Tuesday after cutting off a man`s testicles as part of a brutal attack on a disabled man, a police spokeswoman said. The victim remains in a critical condition in an area hospital.
The attack happened at around 7:13 p.m. local time on Monday at the Inglis Apartments in the Elmwood neighborhood in southwest Philadelphia, the largest city in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Responding officers found a critically injured man who was suffering from multiple stab wounds. "While being treated by medics the complainant informed officers of who stabbed him, took his medication and which apartment he resides in," police spokeswoman Tanya Little said on Tuesday. "Officers went to the apartment given and took the male into custody for further investigation." The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Edgar Bonilla, who was charged on Tuesday with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of an Instrument of a Crime (PIC), Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person (REAP), Robbery, Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Trespass. "Bonilla is charged with cutting off the testicles of a paraplegic resident of an assisted living facility on Monday evening," Little said. She said Bonilla was arraigned in court on Tuesday afternoon and bail was set at $5 million dollars. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 2. The victim remained in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday. The exact motive for the brutal attack was not immediately known, but investigators said it may have involved a dispute involving a woman, who is also paralyzed and lives at the assisted living facility.
