The Constitutional Council announced on Saturday the names of candidates for the presidential election. They are only eleven on the starting line. The Constitutional Council on Saturday unveiled the official list of candidates for the presidential election, at a press briefing chaired by Laurent Fabius. The day before, at 6 pm, the sponsorship race had ended and at the same time the nomination period. There were 14,296 validated sponsorships. The candidate of the right Francois Fillon, the socialist candidate Benoît Hamon, the former Minister of Economy Emmanuel Macron, the sovereignist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, the candidate of France insoumise Jean -Luc Mélenchon, Nathalie Arthaud for Lutte Ouvrière, President of the National Front Marine Le Pen, UPR president François Asselineau, non-registered centrist deputy Jean Lassalle, Philippe Poutou, who carries the torch of the New Anticapitalist Party ), And Jacques Cheminade. In total, 14,296 sponsorships have been validated.
Each case was validated taking into account that the distribution of "sponsors" meets the criteria of geographical diversity. The candidates had to collect the signatures of elected representatives of at least 30 different departments or overseas collectivities.
